Overview
The Surya, the sun, as we all know, is the primary source of energy for the entire planet. Sun is the source of all the wisdom and knowledge one can gain. Also, Sun is a primary deity since prehistoric times, and has been worshiped since then, specifically on Rathasapthami. On this day of Rathasapthami, we practice 108 Surya Namaskara as an honor to the Sun God, every year.
Sun is also the primary Guru and an inspiration for all of us. And as a Guru he is one who shows the path from darkness to light. That is why here at Yogavijnana we practice 108 Surya Namaskara on Guru Purnima as well every year.
