Overview of Hamsa Upanishad
The "Hamsa Upanishad" is one of the minor Upanishads attached to the Shukla Yajurveda and is deeply embedded in the Vedantic philosophy that deals with the ultimate realization of the self. It is specifically focused on Hamsavidya, an advanced meditation technique involving the mystical syllable "Hamsa."
Hamsavidya: The Upanishad centers around the doctrine of Hamsavidya, which is a meditative discipline focusing on the mantra "Hamsa." This mantra is a combination of two sounds: "Ham" and "Sa," symbolizing the individual soul (jiva) and the supreme soul (Paramatma), respectively. The repetition of this mantra and its internalization are taught as methods to realize the unity between the jiva and the Paramatma.
